the origins of Schaatsbaan Rotterdam
Since 2013, Schaatsbaan Rotterdam has been the ultimate winter hotspot on the fields of RHV Leonidas. What started with winning the Rotterdam City Initiative and a €2 million subsidy has now grown into a lively and independent sports complex. a Rotterdam project
With a dream and a good idea, Schaatsbaan Rotterdam won the City Initiative in 2013. The subsidy gave the push needed to create a place where the people of Rotterdam of all ages can come together in winter. Today, the ice rink is financially independent and has become a unique spot in Rotterdam for skating fun on an iconic 400-metre track.
unique mobile ice rink
The ice rink is not just a standard rink. It is a mobile but fully-fledged 400-metre track, complemented by the Fun Lane and curling rinks, making the space multifunctional. Schaatsbaan Rotterdam is built up and taken down each year. The doors usually open at the end of November, and fans can then enjoy the Rotterdam ice daily until the spring half-term. sustainability
Schaatsbaan Rotterdam stands out with a sustainable design that uses no less than 60% less energy than traditional ice rinks. This makes the rink an eco-friendly choice for visitors who enjoy winter sports in Rotterdam. It shows that winter fun and environmental awareness can go hand in hand perfectly.

Since its opening, the ice rink has seen steady growth in visitor numbers — from 150,000 in its first year to 250,000 in more recent years. social involvement
Each year Schaatsbaan Rotterdam organises a free school skating programme for over 40,000 children. This initiative, of which we are extremely proud, gives children a unique chance to discover skating. In addition, we support social projects such as the Daniel den Hoed Foundation and the Disabled Sports Fund. In doing so, we show our commitment to the city and the Rotterdam community. Restaurant
Prefer to sit inside? Take a seat in our colourful restaurant! In this restaurant, once a month a DJ spins delicious hits during the free mibo, groups can grab a bite to eat or we go on into the night during parties.

There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Please ask one of our staff.
400-metres rink
The indoor 400-metre rink has official ISU dimensions. On the 400-metre rink, young talents, skating clubs, sporty recreational skaters and competition skaters can make their rounds.

At our complex you will find the skate shop of Schaatsplus. The specialist in ice skates, sales, maintenance and service.
Fun rink
The indoor, 800m2 fun rink is suitable for beginner skaters, school skating, skating lessons, figure skating or curling.
Winter Plaza
The covered Winter Square has plenty of seating areas to enjoy winter delicacies. Do you have special wishes or allergies? Just let the kitchen know; they will be happy to help you!
Curling rink
The curling rink is an extension of the fun rink and is primarily intended for curling, but can also be used by skaters.
Curling bar
Located next to the ice of the Curling rink, is the Curling Bar. Here, companies and groups can have a drink or a bite to eat after curling. Also available to rent for parties and celebrations!
lockers
Lockers can be rented at the entrance hall from €2.50. You pay these by iDeal with your phone, so no cash!
